Today we headed to the Pediatrician for a check-up as she has not been to the Doctor in who knows how long. She did well during the visit. It was her 6 month check-up about a month late.
They checked her weight, height, and head circumference & oxygen levels. She is underweight as she was a premie & born about 3 months early. We also found out that she has a heart murmur we need to check out. And, have to get her in for her vaccine catch-up as well.
The DCF emergency social worker arrived to check-in on her and us and to provide an update to DCF on her behalf now that she was placed in a foster home.
We were getting ready to head out and were told we could head to NH with her as the mother apprived and they expected DCF approval soon. Luckily we hoped we would get the green light, so we threw everything we thought we would need for her (I know no checklist per usual) before we left earlier than morning.
Just like that, we were off on our first family roadtrip from MA to NH to visit with my Mom & Dad as well as my sister, her husband, and their dog too. I sat in back with her while Kevin took over in the driver's seat. I wanted to make sure she was occupied and felt someone close by as it was about a 4 hour drive for us to get there.
She slept a good portion and although she handled the long drive well, she was not into my toys and rattles just yet. Likely due to this all being new to her and also possibly not having much like this before too.
We enjoyed the scenic drive, just us 3, and arrived in NH before dinnertime. My parents greeted us starting with my Dad, who is always the greeter. We brought her in first followed by all the stuff. There was so much - haha.
She met my Mom and Dad and my mom immediately took hold of her as we got settled in. It was a nice moment for sure.
The next day, we surpirsed my Sister and Brother-in-Law (& dog too), when I walked outside with Kevin holding her. My sister's mouth dropped and proclaimed, you have a baby, and I said yes we do as we smiled.
They immediately greeted her and my sister took hold of her, as she is such a cutie. We all walked back in and caught up on all the news.
We enjoyed a nice weekend together and even tried some stage 1 food with little success too. On our way home, I noticed she started grasbing more with my help. Exciting to see progress this early.
The three of us arrived home on Sunday later afternoon after grabbing some groceries on our way home to enjoy some time together as the first few days were very much go, go, go.
Stay tuned for more adventures from The Smiths & Baby Z.
