During this DCF foster process, Baby Z will have ongoing supervised visits with Mom & her 2 siblings (she has a full brother that is about 18 months & a half brother that is 4 years old).
The last visit she had was the first week we had her, so it has been about a month. Today she gets to visit for 1 hour, but the schedule will be every other Tuesday for 2 hours. The visits are supervised by her DCF social worker. She will have time with her Mom & brothers at a set location.
Typically DCF handles drop off and pick up, but since there are 3 kids all in car seats, thus requiring 2 social workers to cart the kiddos, I offered to help with Baby Z for now.
I met her social worker who had the 2 boys at the rehab facility and walked in with her. The social worker took Baby Z and handed her over to Mom, and I placed the receiving blanket on Mom's shoulder and off I went.
I returned an hour later and coordinated with the social worker that I would head back in a few to get Baby Z. I quietly waited on the side of the yard, until getting the signal. She then placed her back into my arms and then we were off again.
I waited for the social worker, so I could find out how the visit went and was told overall it was good. She spent most of her attention on the older boys and ended holding Baby Z.
I can't imagine how hard it must be for Mom and the kiddos as it certainly is hard for me and us. Only time will tell what will be, but for now we will just continue give her what she needs... love.
