We celebrated 1 week with her today. They say the first 24 hours is the toughest, but so far so good with Baby Z. She is such a good baby. She typically wakes up once during the night for a quick feeding and diaper change. And wakes around 6-7am on average.
This week, she spent her days at another foster family home in town during the day while we both worked. She got to spend some time with her 1 & a half year-old brother who they are fostering, while her 4 year-old half brother is in a different foster home in another Berkshire town nearby. I know, so sad to see the kids go through this especially apart from one another.
So, each day I dropped her off in the morning before 9am & Kevin picked her up around 5pm after he got out of work. We both loved seeing her smiling face when we all were home again.
We have to start trying out a schedule, but week 1 was tough for that especially with her in another foster home during the work day. I will be taking leave from work in the near future, likely with her May-October full time with potentially part time day care to ensure she gets ongoing stimulation and socialization on top of what we hope we gain from PDC (Pediatric Development) per DCF recommendation too. We want her to thrive, but realize right now she is behind.
Stay tuned for more adventures from The Smiths & Baby Z.
