Baby Z had just recouped from a cold before vacation, but we have been afraid since day 1 that she perhaps had asthma. Unfortunately she does, which is so sad.
At first, she was on inhalers, both types (emergency and standard) before and during vacation, but we noticed Cape Cod exacerbated her coughing, so our plan was to address it with the Doctor upon our return. He put her on a nebulizer with albuterol plus a steroid to help control it. The plan is to try this for 14 days and see what is next. We hope we can just do the inhalers as she is not a fan of the nebulizer at all!
We have been trying to find the best way to get her to take it, and so far distraction we noticed helps, so that is what we shall do. How any Doctor thinks babies especially would take this is besides me, but we just tell her we love her as she cries and screams, which is no fun for us either.
I will provide updates on her condition as we work through it.
Stay tuned for more adventures from The Smiths & Baby Z.
